Residential Rates and Discounts
|
Residents are billed on a monthly basis for waste collection services. These charges can be found on your water utility bill. The City’s contract with your garbage company allows for an automatic annual rate adjustment each June 1. The adjustment equals 50% of the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over a one year period. In conformance with this contract provision, the garbage rates will increase by 1.806% effective June 1, 2009. The increase in residential rates is shown in the table below.

Notes:
- The residential collection rates will be applicable to single family homes, duplexes and tri-plexes.
- Monthly cost is based on the size of your trash cart. The 60-gallon cart for recycling and 90-gallon cart for green waste and food waste are provided at no additional charge.
- All wheeled carts are provided to residents by their service provider at no additional charge.
- Additional green waste carts are provided upon demonstrated need at no additional charge.

Garbage Rate Discounts
To
receive any applicable discount, you must meet specific requirements as detailed below.
Important Program Note: To be eligible for a
discount, the service address must be located within Stockton
city limits and the water bill must be in the applicant's name.
- If you are a Senior 65 and older, contact the City of Stockton Utility Billing at 937-8295 to receive a 10% discount on all regular cart rates. Proof
of age is required.
- Seniors 65 and older and below median income (annual income below $35,483), also known as the SBMI discount, may be eligible to receive an additional 10% discount - for a total of 20% off - on all regular cart rates. To receive the SBMI discount, you must apply and be approved for it.
To apply for this additional discount, click here to download an application and instructions. You may also contact the City of Stockton Utility Billing at 937-8295 to have an application mailed to you.
- Residents who are disabled and below median income (annual income below $35,483) - also known as the DLI discount - may be eligible to receive a 10% discount on all regular cart rates.
The DLI discount is administered through the City of Stockton. To receive the DLI discount, you must apply and be approved for it.
