Public Meeting Scheduled Regarding
Flood Insurance Requirements & Building Restrictions
(Stockton, CA) - Local flood officials from City of Stockton, San Joaquin County, San Joaquin Area Flood Control Agency, Reclamation Districts, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will hold a public meeting to discuss the new FEMA Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps that are scheduled to become effective on October 16, 2009. The maps will designate areas within San Joaquin County as Special Flood Hazard Areas, requiring flood insurance for some property owners and introducing building restrictions.
A meeting for property owners is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2009, 6:00 p.m. at Grace Covell Hall, University of the Pacific, 3601 Pacific Avenue, Stockton. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with presentations from City, County and FEMA representatives from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Representatives from all agencies will be available to answer questions during an open house at the conclusion of the presentations.
