Accepting Applications for Civil Service Commission Vacancy
(Stockton, CA) - The City of Stockton is currently accepting applications for one (1) vacancy on the five-member (5) Civil Service Commission. Full terms are for three (3) years. This appointment will be to fill the unexpired term of one of the members, which will expire on February 3, 2011. Appointments are made by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. Applicants must reside in the city of Stockton, be registered to vote, and may not hold any public office or position of employment with the City of Stockton. The deadline for applications is Monday, September 21, 2009, at 5:00 p.m.
The Civil Service Commission establishes suitable rules and regulations for the administration of the City’s Civil Service System, in the areas of classification, recruitment, and testing. The Commission investigates matters related to the enforcement of such rules and regulations, hears appeals regarding the administration of the Civil Service System, and also serves as the City’s Equal Employment Commission. Meetings are bi-monthly on the 1st and 3rd Thursday, 3:00 p.m. at City Hall, 425 N. El Dorado Street. Remuneration is $25 per meeting.
