City Of Stockton Accepting Applications
Stockton Public Art Advisory Committee

(Stockton, CA) - The City of Stockton is currently accepting applications for two (2) vacancies on the Public Art Advisory Committee. These vacancies are due to the term expirations of members Tom Bowe and Tommie Muhammad on December 11, 2009. The term for this volunteer position will commence upon appointment and run for three (3) years.

Members must live in the city of Stockton for at least three (3) years prior to appointment and may not hold any public office or position of employment with the City of Stockton. Qualified candidates will be recommended for appointment by a Nominating Committee of the Stockton Arts Commission and will be approved by the City Council.

The function of the Public Art Advisory Committee is to implement the City of Stockton’s Public Art Master Plan and the Public Art Program ordinance and develop the annual plan that determines which public art projects, when approved by the City Council, will be undertaken in any given year. The Committee oversees the artist selection process for Public Art projects and is also responsible for public art educational programs.

The Committee meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month, except in January when it meets on the third Wednesday, at 4:00 p.m. at the Community Services Department, 6 E. Lindsay Street.

Applications are available from the Office of the City Clerk, 425 N. El Dorado Street, 1st floor, or online at www.stocktongov.com. The deadline for applications is December 1, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
