Stockton Marina and Joan Darrah Promenade Ceremony
(Stockton, CA) - A celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Downtown Stockton Marina and Joan Darrah Promenade will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009, at 4:30 p.m. Boating activities will begin earlier in the afternoon, including the Coast Guard, Port of Stockton, and San Joaquin County Sheriff boats, and Pacific Crew rowing at 3:30 p.m. The official ceremony will be held on Tuleburg Levee Road, directly behind the Waterfront Warehouse, 445 W. Weber Avenue.
The ceremony will include recognition of accomplishments by Mayor Ann Johnston and City Councilmembers, City of Stockton Redevelopment Agency, Westrec Marina Management, Inc., the Darrah family, Downtown Stockton Alliance and the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce. Dignitaries will arrive by boat from across the channel just prior to the ceremony.
This event is free and open to the public. Individual boaters and yacht clubs can reserve a free guest dock space for the event by calling in advance. Everyone is
encouraged to remain downtown to experience the lighting of the waterfront at dusk and enjoy dining at waterfront and downtown restaurants.
