City Storm Clean-up Continues

(Stockton, CA) - Clean-up from the October 13, 2009 severe storm that hit Central Valley will continue for the next 3 to 4 weeks. In Stockton, the storm system caused significant widespread damage, uprooting and knocking over trees and scattering tree limbs and debris across roadways, sidewalks, parks, and private property. The Stockton Public Works Department has been working to clean-up all the debris from the first reports received. Over 700 locations need clean-up and the numbers are expected to grow over the next few days as reports continue to come in. Responding to conditions that affect public safety is a priority, including clearing roadways and immediate hazards.

“We are working hard to clear up all issues, as this is just the first of many weather systems that may impact us,” stated Interim Public Works Director Bob Murdoch. “We apologize for any inconvenience or delays.”

City crews and contractors will be working extended hours over the next 3 to 4 weeks to clean up the debris. Please report hazards related to streets and street flooding by

calling (209) 937-8341 and report tree-related issues by calling (209) 937-8217. Telephone lines may be busy. Non-urgent problems may be reported using the online Ask Stockton system available on the City of Stockton web site at www.stocktongov.com.
