MUD INDUSTRIAL PRETREATMENT REQUIREMENTS

Significant Industrial Users (SIU) shall comply with the following requirements:

  1. Complete a Wastewater Discharge Permit application. This application will be reviewed to assess pretreatment requirements for the industrial user.
  2. Install a monitoring manhole for use by City Environmental Control Officers.
  3. Install wastewater monitoring equipment on-site. This requirement will be specific to each user, but must users install a wastewater flowmeter w/ 24 hour circular recording chart, pH recording device w/ 24 hour circular recording chart, and refrigerated automatic wastewater sampler capable of collecting flow proportional samples.
  4. Install wastewater pretreatment equipment based on specific Federal and/or local requirements. Some industrial users will install equipment to remove solids, oil and grease, heavy metals, adjust pH, or other general discharge prohibitions.
  5. Perform wastewater self-monitoring as require by the Wastewater Discharge Permit. Typical self-monitoring includes flow measurement, pH recording, sample collection and analysis for pollutants such as BOD, TSS and heavy metals.
  6. Provide self-monitoring reports to the Environmental Control section as required by the Wastewater Discharge Permit.
  7. Allow unannounced site inspections for pretreatment purposes.
  8. Comply with specific discharge prohibitions, applicable categorical limits and local limits.
