Volunteers

The Stockton Police Department is looking for the best and brightest Volunteers - those who have the aptitude and sense of commitment - those who want to help their community and who want to make a difference.  Our goal is to provide the highest level of professional public service to the wide range of ethnic and culturally diverse groups that make up Stockton, through the help of those community members willing to volunteer their time working with the members of the Stockton Police Department.

In an effort to create opportunities for all of those wishing to do volunteer work with the Stockton Police Department, we have developed two different programs.  These two programs are known as the Volunteers in Police Service or VIPS and the Sentinels.  The biggest difference between these two programs is that you must be over forty years of age to become a VIPS while Sentinels are open to all persons over the age of eighteen.
