Eviction Protection

State of California

The best protection against eviction is to know your rights:

The State of California eviction moratorium ended September 30, 2021. State law prevented landlords from seeking eviction of tenants who were eligible for the rent relief program without first completing a rental assistance application with the program.

  • Eligible tenants who completed an application with the program may be protected from eviction for non-payment of rent.

City of Stockton

If the address of your residential rental property is within the city limits of Stockton, a City Ordinance offers additional eviction protection through a moratorium that is in effect until 90-days after the State of California COVID-19 Emergency Declaration is lifted.

For questions about other rental, financial, and employment resources, please contact the Economic Development Department or submit an AskStockton request.
