Block Parties / Street Closures

A successful event requires careful planning and adequate notice to your neighbors and impacted businesses, and proper paperwork filed with the City of Stockton Community Services Department.

 

A Block Party is when there is a gathering, sponsored solely by owners, residents or tenants of properties fronting a street, which causes a closure of the entire street, or a portion thereof, to vehicular traffic and use of the street for the gathering.

 

A Street Closure is when there is a a gathering of people which causes a closure of the entire street, or a portion thereof, to vehicular traffic and use of the street for the event. Street closures are used for:

  • Parades
  • Demonstrations / March
  • Run / Walk, and
  • Festivals (Impacting streets) 

 

Block Parties and Street Closure Process

  1. Submit the completed application and any required attachments 45 calendar days prior to the event to the City of Stockton Community Services Department, located at:

    Cesar Chavez Central Library
    Community Services Administrative Offices
    605 N. El Dorado Street
    Stockton, CA 95202

  2. Submit a refundable street cleaning deposit of $500
  3. Submit a petition form for notification including: area businesses, homeowners and/or tenants affected by street closure being requested.
  4. Depending on the type of event, barricades or K-rails may be required and must be rented separately. Organizer will be notified if this need exists at a pre-planning meeting.
  5. Depending on the type of event, police service may be required and paid for. Organizer will be notified if this need exists at a pre-planning meeting.
