The primary objective of the Fire Prevention Division is to reduce the risk of fires and safeguard the lives, welfare, and economy of the community. We provide many services such as code enforcement, fire safety education, fire investigation, and special and technical services such as plan checking and issuing fire code permits.

The Division is overseen by a Division Chief who is also assigned to the position of Fire Marshal. Additional sworn personnel includes a Fire Captain, a Fire Protection Specialist, and a non-sworn civilian who handles Inspections and Weed Abatement complaints.  Two non-sworn positions assist staff.

The Fire Prevention Division personnel work in the Permit Center, which is located at 345 North El Dorado Street, along with Community Development Department, the Planning Division and Building Division. This one-stop location makes life easier for both business owners and contractors.
